“A bittersweet, vividly rendered animal story … This quirky tale of friendship has a happy ending, and readers are sure to take its lessons to heart.”

“Author Anne Wheaton has written a very sweet story that raises some difficult issues for youngsters — foreclosure and abandonment of pets — that will be good discussion starters. The writing is excellent, and the story and characters are very engaging. The illustrations by Vipin Alex Jacob match the sweetness of the story perfectly. This is not a traditional picture book, being somewhat lengthy and with difficult issues, but would be perfect for independent readers, five to seven years old.”

Judge’s commentary, 25th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards:
“PIGGY AND PUG by Anne Wheaton and Vipin Alex Jacob is a heartfelt story written with love that I hope will be read by many. I like how the plot and writer’s bio both encourage readers to consider adopting a pet in need. At first, I was heartbroken for Pug. Who could abandon a beloved pet? But ultimately I liked how the family who left the dog behind was portrayed as sympathetic even though abandoning an animal is never a good thing. The situation will cause adults to have to explain “foreclosure” to kids who don’t already know this. I see this is a great way to open up healthy discussion on important topics concerning money…..The illustrations are colorful and appealing. I marvel at how the pictures aren’t large, but still offer much detail and convey emotion……Overall, the story and lessons are presented in non-preachy ways. A lovely book that readers will enjoy. Nice work.”
